Prayer is not there to change God, it is there to change US

Updated: Dec 1, 2021

And so, the end of the Greco-Roman year 2020 is upon us.

Many of us have started to follow the Jewish Calendar to keep in touch with God’s Times and Seasons, but it is inevitable for us to feel like the end of a season is upon us! Usually around this time of the year it starts feeling like the days are just running out, there is never enough time to get everything done before the end of the year catches up to us!

2020 was a very challenging year, but also a year that many turned back to God and to His Word. He makes everything that the enemy means for evil, turn into good!! The thing that most resonated with us at The Coach this year was the importance of prayer.

A wise Rabbi once said, prayer is not there to change God, it is there to change US. Many of our prayers focus on US, our needs, our wants etc. and all of that is also very important. But we want to inspire you to start praying, not just for what you can gain, but to see how much you can change to align with our Heavenly Father and His Will!

We see in Malachi 3:6, “But because I, ADONAI, do not change….” And in Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is (eternally changeless, always) the same yesterday, today and forever”.

God does not change, and our prayers will not change Him. We need to change while we pray. We need to align our priorities and needs with His perfect Will. Just as Yeshua did in the garden of Gethsemane when He prayed for God’s Will to be done.

Our prayer for you is that you will be inspired through your prayers to change and become more like Him. Many Blessings, Elzaan Da Camara & Monique Fourie
